Festival Tips

For all you first timers (or as a reminder to you Fringe veterans), here a few tips on having a smooth Orlando Fringe experience.

Lines Are Love! They’re a linear pre-show party. Mingle. Chill. Meet people. Talk about the must-sees. Let an artist chat you up.

Go Green! Be faithful to a single Program. Recycle your Program. Leftover programs and flyers? We’ll reuse them. Buy a reusable Fringe water bottle. Recycle your beer and wine cups. Bike or walk to Fringe.

Be Free! Visual Art is free to look at. Kid’s Fringe on the weekends is free. There are free shows on the Outdoor Stage. Volunteers see shows for free. We love to be free at Fringe!

Go Behind the Scenes! Subscribe to Orlando Fringe’s e-newsletter at OrlandoFringe.org. “Like” us on Facebook (/orlandofringefestival), check into the Fringe on FourSquare, and follow us on Twitter (@orlandofringe). We are very social here at Fringe. And you get all the behind the scenes happening and breaking news!

Get Your Button! Unless you are under 13, you must have one to enter any venue or we’ll make you buy another. Then you’ll have two. You can bring a friend!

Being On-Time is Cool 5 minutes before the show is cool. 10 minutes is very cool. In line 15 minutes before? Now that is, … Audrey Hepburn cool! Show up late? That’s not cool. We will not let you in. You will be very mad!

Plan for Parking There are about 500 free parking spaces located in and around Loch Haven Park. Get here early and stay late for the best parking. There is a limited amount of free street parking around Loch Haven Park and Ivanhoe Village. Check the Mills 50 area for additional free Fringe parking. Can’t find a spot? Try one of the local parking garages. They might charge you a couple bucks but at least you are here Fringing!

Read the Ads You are able to attend all these cool shows and events because of businesses, artists, and patrons (like you) just love the Fringe and they buy ads or make donations. Pay attention to those ads and visit them, patronize them, thank them!

Express Yourself Take the Audience Survey. Vote for your favorites at TheDailyCity.com. Add your reviews online. Or tell that Fringe-buttoned hottie over there what show you’re going to next!

Check Reviews, But Decide For Yourself EVERY show at Fringe will get reviewed. Yikes! There are some busy bees at the newspapers. Fringing is all about flying by the seat of your pants. Take a chance on an unknown show. Support the national and international performers. Embrace the random chaotic spirit of Fringe!

Bring Your Family There are plenty of family friendly events at Orlando Fringe, including shows and our free Kid’s Fringe at the Mennello Museum. Bring the kids to the vendors and buy them a sweet treat!

Cash Is King We accept all major credit cards online and at our Box Office, but buttons are cash only. Most of the vendors on the lawn only accept cash. You can only buy beer with cash. Cash is really good to put in the tip jar at the Beer Tent. We even have an ATM there so you can get cash to put in the tip jar!

Become a Friend of Fringe Donate to Fringe at our “Fan of the Fringe” table inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center. For every donation, we will give you a Fringe Fan; seriously, we will give you a fan so you can stay cool on the Lawn. That is friendly!

Talk Art. Buy Art The artwork you see on the walls of the Lowndes Shakespeare Center and Orlando REP is for sale. Artists set the price and get 100% of the proceeds. You can chat with the artists at the Visual Fringe table. I think that painting would look great in your living room. Don’t you?

Found it! Did you lose something at the beer tent? Did your sunglasses get left on a table? Have no fear. You can drop off or pick up found items at Studio C located inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center. We love reuniting people with their cell phones!

Okay… so now you have all the tips you need to have the best Fringe experience ever and since you got some tips from us, maybe you could stop by the Beer Tent and return the favor!

(Still have an unanswered question? Check out the FAQ Page or e-mail us. We’ll be happy to help!)
