C. Chad Cronon Memorial Scholarship
Chad Cronon was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1974 and passed away in Orlando in 2015. Chad was an attorney, practicing criminal law since 2003. Chad graduated from Lyman High School in 1992 where he served as Student Body President. Chad received Bachelor of Arts from Samford University in 1995 graduating with honors. Chad continued his education at the University of Florida Graduate School receiving a Masters of Arts in Public Affairs with honors in 1999. Chad graduated from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law receiving a Juris Doctor with honors in 1999. During his legal career Chad served as President of the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Director of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL). Chad also chaired the Diversity Committee at FACDL. Chad was a member of both the Florida Bar and the Orange County Bar. Chad was named as a fellow from the National Service League/AmeriCorps (1999), Florida Public Interest Law (1998, 1999), and Florida Bar Public Service Summer Law Fellow (1998). Chad was a Visiting Instructor at UCF receiving the "UCF's Keeper of Creed for Integrity" Award (2010-2011). Chad lived a life of service to others. He was a local LGBT activist, artist and served on many nonprofit boards, including Orlando Fringe. He was a member of the board of directors from 2002-2010, serving as both Vice President and President. Chad never missed a Fringe Festival and in 2012, produced his first Fringe show. Chad’s love for unique shows was apparent and in 2016, Orlando Fringe renamed the “Fringe of the Fringe” award after Chad. We are proud to manage the scholarship in the amount of $500, which was funded by Chad’s family.
The C. Chad Cronon Memorial Scholarship is for one Orange, Lake, Seminole or Osceola Area High School senior who is interested in majoring in Arts Administration or Entertainment Law Additional qualifications as determined originally by the members of the Scholarship Review Team: Sincere interest in your chosen field Ability to work well with others Academic promise (minimum GPA of 3.0) Concern for others as demonstrated in extra curricular participation The scholarship will be administered by The Orlando Fringe Festival. Selections will be determined by the scholarship committee of the Fund after study of the applications received. The scholarship committee will consist of designated members of C. Chad Cronons' family and George Wallace. Applications are due by April 10th.
Guidelines for the Orlando Fringe Festival Scholarship Application
The Orlando Fringe Festival Scholarship Fund was created to provide scholarship to one Orange, Lake, Osceola or Seminole County Area High School graduating senior pursuing further study in Arts Management or Entertainment Law. In order to apply for this scholarship a student must: 1. Be a graduating senior from a school in Orange, Lake, Osceola, or Seminole County. 2. Plan to attend a two or four year college or technical school within the United States United States 3. Plan to major in Fine Arts in college. This includes art, music, technical theatre, theater, and/or dance. 4. Show academic promise(minimum GPA of 3.0) 5. Show concern for others as demonstrated in participation in extracurricular school or community activities 6. Write750-word essay answering the question: How will your participation in Arts Management or Entertainment Law influence and help you achieve your future goals? 7. Attach a resume listing experiences in all arts activities in high school. Final selection of the scholarship winners will be decided by members of C. Chad Cronons' Family and George Wallace. The scholarship awards will be announced at The Orlando Fringe Award Ceremony. The payment will be made after the selected student notifies the Foundation about the school he or she will be attending. Payment will be made to the school for the student.
