We have been listening. Patrons say that they miss the Halloween Fringe event of years past. We are announcing our return to the Halloween season with a spin on a cult classic with Young FRINGEnstein.
“We are taking the Mel Brooks movie Young Frankenstein and cutting it into five pieces,” said Orlando Fringe Festival Producer Mike Marinaccio. “I am assigning each piece of the movie to a different theatre troupe. I will then work with the troupes to transition between their segments to make one complete and cohesive story.”
We have collected quite a lineup of local theatre troupes to tell the hilarious tale. Scheduled to perform are Central Florida Vocal Arts (Soap Opera, Sloppy Seconds), Gromalot Theatre Factory (Stump, Snack), ‘Lil Theatre Co (Go Fish, ‘Lil Women A Rap Musical), Phantasmagoria (Wickedest Tales of All, Chains of Fire), and Wanzie Presents (Wanzie with A Z, The Lion Queen). Joining the lineup of performers is a special appearance by Fringe-favorite Eric Pinder.
“It’s going to be pretty exciting to see how these performers interpret the story”, added Marinaccio. “It’s going to be memorable for sure.”
The movie Young Frankenstein, released in 1974, is a comedy horror film written by Mel Brooks and the late Gene Wilder. It is a parody of the classic Mary Shelley story ‘Frankenstein’. It was adapted into a Broadway musical in 2007.
Young FRINGEnstein will take place one night only, Monday, October 30th at 7pm at the Margeson Theatre inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center.
Tickets are $20 and are available starting Friday, September 15th for Club Fringe members and September 21st for the general publlic. This event is expected to sell out quickly so it might be a good idea to join Club Fringe to take advantage of the early members-only ticket sale.
We are also offering a limited number of $35 “double feature” ticket packages which will include a ticket to Young FRINGEnstein and a ticket to the 9pm performance of Phantasmagoria’s Chains of Fire on the same night in the Mandell Theatre.
