Visual Fringe is the portion of the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival that consists of visual art. Like the theater portion of the festival, Visual Fringe is uncensored and un-juried and 100% of the money made in art sales is given back to the artists. The main focus of the Visual Fringe is to allow an outlet for artists to push beyond their usual medium, subject matter and comfort zone to bring true uniqueness to this exhibition and foster the celebration of creativity.
With the great success of the Visual Fringe Market of 2013, we are sure this year will be another amazing one, as Visual Fringe is working with Orlando Museum of Art to hold our Visual Fringe Market, 12-4 pm Saturday and Sunday of both weekends at the museum.
Our ever evolving Visual Fringe has grown due to the amazing artists who showcase their work, a dedicated Visual Fringe team, and fabulous support of the Orlando Fringe Staff. Anything you see hanging on the walls or placed somewhere in the Orlando Shakespeare Theater – be it paintings, drawings, photographs, ceramics or sculptures – is part of Visual Fringe.
Another great addition to last year’s event was Kids Visual Fringe held in the lobby of Orlando Repertory Theater, and we are very excited to bring back this portion of the festival. This is a great venue for students from surrounding area schools to showcase their talent and be seen by members of the community, who received the art with great enthusiasm. (Remember, 100% of money made goes back to the artists.)
So with Orlando Fringe just around the corner, it’s time to get moving if you want to participate.
Attached you will find the application for this years gallery — there are a few differences from last year, along with gallery being only in the Shakespeare Theater.
May is approaching quickly, so fill out your application soon. Also, please share this info with any other artists you know who might be interested in participating.
Spaces are first come, first serve. We look forward to seeing you at this exciting celebration of the arts!
